Promar in NYT story on Vietnam’s fast food market
Promar was interviewed last week for a story in the New York Times on fast food in Vietnam just before the opening of the country’s first McDonald’s. In recent months, consultants Tina Peneva and Lucia Vancura have done work in Vietnam on the dairy industry, cheese market as well as fast food, cafe and bakery trends.
Mike Ives’ Times article makes great points, including noting the strength of Asian-owned fast food chains, the experiments with menu localization, the difficulties of finding good real estate in Ho Chi Minh City and the challenges of building distribution and cold chains.
